Bits and bobs, and a wee little SALE!

Hello Freinds

If you are pottering around Stirling in the Adelaide Hills, pop into the fab Library for a peek  the latest AVS contribution to the local artist display…

… All your favourites are there, soaking up the vibe and modestly showing off their little stitches and embellishments.

I LOVE this time of year in the hills – no fire danger (!),  golden Autumn leaves crunching under boots – and boots! – but brrrrrrrr, it’s getting chilly! To help you keep your little ones (and yourself) cosy and warm, head on over to the AVS Facebook  page for a little Autumn sale. It ends this Friday at 10pm, so spread the  word and don’t dilly dally!

It was lovely to be included in an all-Aussie Etsy treasury of goodness recently too:

Thanks Maryanne!

Ok, off I go, time to cosy up under my Nanna’s crocheted rug of lovelyness and slurp on a hot cuppa – for all of 3 seconds till the little one realises she REALLY needs dinner/hide-and-seek/another book etc etc…. still, it will be good while it lasts 🙂

Introducing Miss Lola

Hello Friends.

It’s my pleasure to introduce you to a new little lady – meet Miss Lola:

Miss Lola loves a classic neutral palette of cream, latte and cocco to best show off her layers of fluty, feathery prettiness. She sports strong alligator clips for adorning a jacket or nestling into a piled-up hairdo, or a satin headband for an elegant-but-casual option. She has even been seen clipped to the front of a handbag or two around these parts….

Never one to miss a good thing, Miss Lola has made her debut at that most happening of establishments E for Ethel – if first reactions are anything to go by you may need to get your skates on to secure her company. Don’t fret if you miss out though, she is planning to pop up in A Visual Sensibility’s online Etsy store very soon!

Happy Tuesday,

M

Happy New Year and all that

Hello friends.

What a whirlwind of a month! We hope your festive season was full of good people, great food and a fair bit of nanna napping – ours certainly was.

The need to power down and cosy up meant the Christmas break included some much-needed down time for both Ali and Megan, with our Etsy shop closed for a bit of a stitching reprieve. We are well and truly open for business again now though, and a scorching hot start to 2012 (several days of 40C – eek!) had us flaked out in front of the aircon with nothing to do but sew and eat = heaven.

In a nice start to the year, we have nabbed ourselves a nifty little spot in the local artist display case at the Stirling Library. From now until February 13 you can pop in and have a peek at a rotating selection of our Snuggly Seed Pillows.

There may even be a little discount code tucked away there for use in the shop, just to make it worth your while…

As usual, we have more ideas and grand sewing plans than we have free hands or hours in the day…. Still, we hope to bring them to you as they make their way to fruition, so stick around – it’s going to be a great year!

Find us at E for Ethel!

Hello Friends.

Yep. It’s true. We are very chuffed to be a part of the all-round loveliness that is  E for Ethel:

Wonderful, huh? Unless you have been living in a cave, you will know that Amanda and Daniel have done a truly snazzy job in creating a haven of handmade, sustainable and downright desirable treasures down on Melbourne Street. The coffee is fab, the vibe is welcoming, and the emphasis on local Australian craftiness is to be applauded. We feel rather honoured to be shelf-mates with such gorgeous brands as Delilah Devine, Kitty Came Home, That Vintage, Me and Amber, and of course, Gretel Girl Draws.

Whist we encourage you to poke around our online Etsy store whenever you like, we think you will appreciate the tactile nature of  sipping a latte while fondling the full range of our Snuggly Seed Pillows (including a good sniff of the Scented Interior Bags):

You will also find several other of our bits and bobs swanning around the place, including:

The Lady Delilah

                                                                   Fabric Wall Art

and the Heirloom Children’s Fabric Book

{Note to the procrastinators: Many of our goodies are one-offs, and can now only be found at Ethel’s… We still have a range of Snuggly Seed Pillows available online,  but if you want to snaffle your favourite in time for Christmas giving we suggest you get down to North Adelaide quick sticks!}

As if you needed a reason to hang out in a groovy cafe, right?

Making Appearences: COMA Quiz Night

Hello friends.

If you are footloose and fancy free tomorrow night (Monday the 28th), why not pop along to the Wheatsheaf Hotel in Thebarton at 7pm for the COMA Quiz Night?

In their own words: COMA (Creative Original Music Adelaide) is a member-based association created to support emerging and established musicians who write and/or perform quality original music.

You can find out more about their great work on their website here. Our jazzy friend and brother in law Tom is on the committee, and roped us into donating a prize. We were of course more than happy to oblige, and have sent along one of our Snuggly Seed Pillows to be re-homed:

Red and White Striped Snuggly Seed Pillow

Tickets are $10 per head, and tables are 4-6 people (but if you are flying solo don’t worry, you are more than welcome!). Call  0423 744 550 to book a ticket, or email thecomalist@gmail.com – but don’t hang around, they are expecting around 90 people for a big night.

Put on your thinking caps peeps!

In The Spotlight: Miss Bess Rosette Brooch

Welcome Friends.

Today we introduce a new regular post – In The Spotlight. It’s a cosy little space for you to get up close and personal with some of our favourite products; actually, we love them all so we shouldn’t play favourites and will probably share them all, just so they don’t get jealous and start bickering.

We thought we would start with the smallest of the triplets:

Miss Bess

Little sister Miss Bess is sweet. Like most little sisters, she loves to be up front, in full view, ready to hear all the compliments coming her way. Miss Bess is versatile too – able to close a cardigan, add oomph to a plain top, or some charm to an otherwise plain jacket. She has even been known to make an appearance pinned to the side of a piled-up hair do. Anything to be noticed.

Miss Bess began when we noticed the lovely combination of fabrics nestled together in our stash.  Some absent-minded toying around followed, some stitches here, a button there – ta da!

If you would like to get to know Miss Bess, you will find her in our shop here. She likes to stooge about with her sisters, Miss Belle and Miss Bridget who are itching to meet you here soon.

See you Wednesday for another Creative Crush…
