Introducing Miss Lola

Hello Friends.

It’s my pleasure to introduce you to a new little lady – meet Miss Lola:

Miss Lola loves a classic neutral palette of cream, latte and cocco to best show off her layers of fluty, feathery prettiness. She sports strong alligator clips for adorning a jacket or nestling into a piled-up hairdo, or a satin headband for an elegant-but-casual option. She has even been seen clipped to the front of a handbag or two around these parts….

Never one to miss a good thing, Miss Lola has made her debut at that most happening of establishments E for Ethel – if first reactions are anything to go by you may need to get your skates on to secure her company. Don’t fret if you miss out though, she is planning to pop up in A Visual Sensibility’s online Etsy store very soon!

Happy Tuesday,

Two become one

Hello friends.

The new year has brought with it some changes for A Visual Sensibility.

You see, as well as making lots of beautiful things recently, Alison also started making a person. It has became apparent that sewing around a growing belly is getting just a bit too tricky; after juggling these two projects admirably for a while, inevitably one of them has had to go on the back burner. Alison quite rightly has chosen sewing, and has reluctantly bowed out of A Visual Sensibility to nest and kiss soon to arrive baby toes. Megan misses her, but agrees that even an overflowing stash of fabric treasures are no match for pudgy baby toe kissing. Both of us agree that should Alison ever be able to drag herself away from all the baby-love, more collaborative stitching would be a must.

So now it is just me –  Megan –  busily sewing and blogging and emailing and shipping little fabric goodies off to their new homes. I’m also putting together a new line of fluty, fluffy lovelies that will get a proper introduction soon.

Here’s a little sneak peek:

{Is it slightly bonkers to clap my hands with sewers delight as layers of swirly texture come together?}

Back to the needle and thread – I have to be my own time keeper and whip cracker now 😉 !

It’s that pink, chocolaty time of year again…

Hello Friends

Yep, allegedly it’s February already. That means Valentines Day is just around the corner – get out the stretchy pants and show me the chocolate! It’s my turn to organise a craft activity at my little one’s Friday playgroup this week, and I am eager to put together a Valentines theme that doesn’t involve 10 kilos of red glitter and endless paper doily hearts….

Looking for a some inspiration, I revisited Ali’s beautiful treasury from last year:

(still coveting that little locket…)

…and this one from January:

Hmmmm, bunting?, clay necklace?…  All lovely, but no lightbulb moments yet.

On then to some *researching* amongst the many Etsy treasures, like this one:

Umm, yeah, obviously papercutting and scalpels are not going to fly with the under 5’s – time to pop over to the trusty Ellen at The Long Thread, and her conveniently timed Valentines round up post – oh the loveliness!

The colour junkie in me really loves the crayon idea, but not a quick project to entrance boisterous little ones.  The recycled paper hearts centre bottom (from Ellen’s earlier post here) are getting the mind racing though….. as a garland? Mini ones strung together as a necklace? A mobile? Hmmmm…

Will take some pictures Friday and show you the resulting happy chaos.
